Harry E. Gillespie, 82, of Vanport ,passed away Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, at Heritage Valley, Beaver, with his family at his side. Born Sept. 21, 1928, in Brighton Township, he was a son of the late Harold "Bill" and Florence Gillespie and had been a resident of Vanport the past 60 years. Harry had retired from Crucible Steel, Colt Industries, Midland, after over 30 years, and had once owned and operated the former Fiesta Drive Inn Theater, East Palestine, Ohio. He was a member of the Vanport Presbyterian Church, where he belonged to the Crusaders. Preceding him in death was his wife of 44 years, Dorothy Werner Gillespie, in 1995, and a sister, Adda Elizabeth Gillespie. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and Paul Kermiet, Brighton Township and Cindy and Bob Whittingham, South Beaver Township; two sisters, Ethel Glenn, Chester, WV and Alice Crumm, East Liverpool, Ohio, and three cherished grandchildren, Tara Kermiet, LaGrange, GA; Stephan (Abbie) Whittingham, Pittsburgh; Bryce Whittingham, South Beaver. Harry was also anxiously awaiting the birth of his first great-granddaughter, due in March.
