Death Date: 10-21-1897∼Born in Victoria, British Columbia. Mamie married Frank Aylwin, who was born in 1862. She had a daughter named Tracey Helen Aylwin in 1888. Mamie took her own life with a pistol wound to the heart at 26 years, 4 months, and 21 days of life, while seeking morphine St. Joseph's hospital in Tacoma, WA. Apparently, Mamie was having an extramarital affair with a man named Peter Sweeney, who was also married. The two couples socialized together. Mamie often attended local dance halls. She shot her lover, Peter, in an empty 2nd floor level of a local store near his home. He was shot in the head and left for dead. Mamie then went to St. Joseph's hospital where she asked for morphine. Apparently, she intended to kill herself with it, according to a later found predated suicide note. Instead, she smuggled her husband's revolver into the hospital and shot herself in the heart, catching the bed on fire! Her victim, Peter Sweeney, miraculously survived, though the bullet was never able to be removed from his head.
