The church in Cabarrus County, NC was named for Joseph Howell, b. 1771 who gave land to the trustees of Garrison Missionary Baptist Church on 17 Aug 1854. They renamed the church Howell's Missionary Baptist Church in his honor. It is still an active church.

Joseph Howell was probably buried at Enon Baptist Church Cemetery in Powder Springs, Campbell County, GA. According to his will, he was living there with his daughter, Eleanor, and her husband, John Kiser. He appears in their home in the 1840 Census and his will was probated in 1844 in Campbell County.

Joseph and Eleanor are not buried here, they are buried in GA. Joseph gave the land for the church, but moved to Georgia. I am a decendant of Joseph.
