Leslie L. Easley, 82, long time resident of Henderson county, died at the home of his son, E.A. Easley of Murchison at 9:30 Wednesday night. Mr. Easley had suffered a paralytic stroke Saturday, December 13th. Later in the week he suffered a second stroke and grew gradually worse until the end came Wednesday night.

Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home of his son in Murchison with burial following at Holly Springs cemetery. Services were conducted by the Baptist and Methodist ministers of Murchison.

Pallbearers were Tom Taylor, Hamilton Grant, E.V. Fowler, Buddy Brown, John Henry Brown and Dewey Saylors.

Honorary pallbearers were W.L. Harville, L.J. Tidmore, Hendrix Morton, Will Dyer, M.A. Asher, W.D. Asher, B.K. Barnes, Ollie Wells, Dr. A.C. Horton, C.C. Bateman, Archie Fowler, Bernice Fowler, J.B. Lewis, W.S. Harris, John Dyer, Johnnie Williams, Tallie Richards, Johnnie Wright, Jimmie Lewis, John Garrett, Earl Jones and Steve Loper.

Leslie Lesane Easley was born in Washington county, Alabama, January 16th, 1855. He came to Texas at the age of twenty-three and settled in Van Zandt county near Martins Mill. He was married to Miss Emmer McClellan in 1882 and three children were born to this union, two of whom survive, S.H. (Henry) Easley of Athens and Ennis A. Easley of Murchison. His wife preceded him in death on August 20th, 1916.

In addition to the two sons, four sisters also survive, Mrs. John Bridges of Grapeland, Texas and Mrs. Beulah Glenn of Alabama. Grandchildren surviving are Reagan Easley, Athens; Mrs. Reagan Hamill, Shamrock, Texas; Iva Nell Easley and Mrs. Tarlton Loughridge, Athens. Two great-grandchildren, Charles Ross Hamill and Michael Sam Loughridge also survive.

Since the death of his wife, Mr. Easley had made his home with his son at Murchison. He had been a member of the Presbyterian church for many years and had held membership in the Masonic order for fifty years.
