Hazel, a resident of La Puebla, was predeceased by her father Juan Felipe Roybal; mother-in-law Refujio Martinez; niece Connie Roybal; nephews Ernest Roybal, Gerald Torrez, and Billy Esquibel.

Hazel was survived by her husband Lorenzo Martinez of La Puebla; daughters Glenda Bustos (husband Matthew) of Fairview, Lorrie Martinez of Albuquerque, Sharon Jirón (husband Albert) of La Mesilla; granddaughter she raised Margarite Martinez of Albuquerque; son Lorenzo "Lencho" Martinez (wife Angela); mother Carlotta Roybal, all of Santa Fe; brothers: Ernesto (Dolores) of Chamisal; Phillip Roybal (wife Roseanne) of La Puebla; sisters: Mabel Valdéz, Beatrice Esquibel, both of Albuquerque; Dorothy Martinez (husband Pedro) of Chimayó; Martha Luján (husband Albert), Yolanda Mondragón (husband Kenny), all of Albuquerque; brothers-in-law: Jim Brito (wife Lillian) of Albuquerque, José F. (wife Marie) of Chimayó, Pedro (wife Dorothy) of Chimayó, Benito (wife Emily) of Córdova, Damian Martinez (wife Angela) of La Mesilla; sisters-in-law: Orlinda Torrez (husband Gilbert) of Córdova, Marina Montoya (husband David) of Truchas), Alice Vásquez (husband Florentino) of Chacón, Evelyn García (husband Fernando) of La Mesilla, Mercy Martinez of Albuquerque, Angela Urioste (husband Pilar) of Rio Rancho, Olivia Gonzáles (husband Leroy) of Albuquerque; 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and numerous other close relatives and friends.

Hazel will be most remembered for her hearty laughter and cooking. She was very caring wife, mother, and grandmother who will be greatly missed by her family. She was a strong person who always had a great sense of humor and was always smiling. She was very photogenic and made friends with everyone. She was very and would help anyone in need. She also loved her pets.

Public visitation and Rosary were in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial was on 2 May at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Burial followed at La Puebla Cemetery. Pallbearers: Tony Vigil, Patrick Montoya, Larry Martinez, Diego Maestas, Kevin Gómez, and Nathan Quintana. Honorary pallbearers: Allen Vásquez and Diego Ferrero.
