Editha "Te Tant" Boutin

CARENCRO - Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial, in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro, for Editha Boutin, 98, the former Editha Prejean, who passed away Sunday, April 11, 2010, at 1 a.m., at her residence in Carencro.

Interment will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Port Arthur, TX. The Rev. Bill Melancon, pastor of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.

Musical selections will be provided by Julie Broussard, accompanied by Phyllis Simar, organist. The songs will be "Amazing Grace,""The Old Rugged Cross," "Hail Mary Gentle Woman," and "Just A Closer Walk With Thee."

Editha was a native of Carencro and a resident of Port Neches, TX for 61 years, and had been living in Carencro for the past 6 years. She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society.

Survivors include one nephew, Preston Prejean and his wife, Leverta, of Carencro; three nieces, May Lou Prejean and her husband, Vernon, of Carencro, Bell Laneaux of Breaux Bridge, and Judy Duhon and her husband, Larry of Carencro; twelve great nieces and nephews; seventeen great, great nieces and nephews; four great, great, great nieces; one great, great, great nephew; and one second cousin, Mrs. Aristide (Edna) Comeaux, of Carencro.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norice Boutin; her parents, Telismar Prejean and the former Ida Richard; two brothers, Dupre Prejean and Leo Prejean; one sister, Edith P. Comeaux; and one niece, her godchild, Christine Guillory.

A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. Monday and will continue from 8 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.

Pallbearers will be Chris Romero, Chris Kidder, Laurence Green, Kenneth Prejean, Justin Prejean, and Tony Boudreaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Preston Prejean and Vernon Prejean.

Melancon Funeral Home, Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel, 4117 N. University Ave., Carencro, (337) 896-3232, is in charge of arrangements.
