Obituary
Warren J. Norton, 76, 165 E. 4th St., died at 11 p.m Saturday at Community Memorial Hospital after an illness of one day. He retired in 1961 as chief engineer at Winona State College.
The son of Julius and Ida Page Norton, he was born in Pleasant Hill Township Aug. 8, 1895. He married Gertrude McCormick Aug. 16, 1916. She died April 23, 1948. On July 1, 1950 he married Amanda Patzner Wolfe. He lived in Winona for 30 years, and was a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart.
Survivors are: his wife; one son, Robert M. Norton, Winona; two daughters, Sister Rita Norton,
Carroll, Iowa, and Mrs. Hugh (Mary) Shaw, Winona; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three
stepsons, Joseph O. Wolfe, Durango, Iowa; Roman C. Wolfe, Durand, Wis., and Oscar H. Wolfe, Milwaukee,
Wis.,; six stepdaughters, Sister Oswalda, Shakopee, Minn., Mrs. Nick (Bernadine) Jaszewski, Milwaukee,
Wis.; Mrs. Rufus (Carmen) Halam, Whitehall, Wis.; Mrs. Arthur (Phyllis) Leu, Anoka, Minn.; Mrs. Harold
(Delores) DuBois, Cedar Grove, Minn.; and Mrs. David C. (Carol) Olson, Coon Rapids, Minn., and 58
step-grandchildren. One brother and one sister have died.
Funeral services will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, the Rev. Msgr.Joseph R. McGinnis officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Friends may call at Watkowski Funeral Home today after 7 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 5 p.m. The Rosary will be at 8 p.m. tonight.
