Shirley Johnson Babcock, 95, of Beaufort, passed away on January 20, 2018 at PruittHealth of Sea Level.
She was a lifetime member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. She retired after 40 years with the Carteret County school system.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Richard John Babcock; her great-grandson, John Steven Hamilton Jr; her parents, John Johnson and Eva Willis-Johnson; and her sister, Merry Palazzo.
She is survived by her son, Richard Babcock, Jr. (Kay) of Beaufort; two granddaughters, Dr. Julia Babcock Hamilton (Steve) of Beaufort and Laura Babcock Chapman (Dennis) of Raleigh; and two great-granddaughters, Sarah Anne Hamilton of Apex and Stephanie Ruth Hamilton of Beaufort.
The funeral services will be held in St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Beaufort with Father Michael Singer officiating. The burial services followed in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Carteret Community College Foundation, 3505 Arendell St., Morehead City, N.C. 28557. The memo line should read, "The Shirley Johnson Babcock Memorial Scholarship."
Arrangements are by Noe Funeral Service Inc. of Beaufort.
