He was born on April 15, 1929, at St. Joseph Hospital in Dodgeville, second of six children of Lawrence and Regina (Forst) Meister. He graduated from Patch Grove High School in 1947. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War with an honorable discharge, on April 11, 1951. Don worked at various companies throughout his life and was most proud of becoming a Wisconsin Licensed Cheesemaker in 1951. His favorite hobby was work.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert and Bernard; brother-in-law, Lawrence Nies; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Meister.
Services will be at the THORNBURG-DEVRIES FUNERAL HOME in Prairie du Chien on Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, at 11 a.m. with visitation two hours before services. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery with the military rites by the American Legion Honor Guard.
