WEST COLUMBIA-Harvey Lee Walker, Jr., 82, a long time resident of West Columbia, S.C. went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, January 4, 2012. Born in Memphis, TN, he was the son of the late Harvey L. and Sally S. Walker and a devoted husband of 61 years to Doris J. Walker. Mr. Walker was retired from Walker Floor Covering and Patton Properties. He was a hard-working, loving, and dedicated man to his family, friends, and church. A humble man his motto was "Do your best everyday!" and was a firm believer in teaching good work ethics. He enjoyed working with his hands and cherished and loved his family. He was a faithful member of Christ's Sanctified Holy Church for 60 years. The family will receive visitors at a visitation in Christ's Sanctified Holy Church, 823 Jackson Street, West Columbia, SC, from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. on Friday evening. Another visitation will be held on Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the church campground in Perry, GA. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Christ's Sanctified Holy Church in Perry on Sunday, January 8, 2012, officiated by Bro. Wayne Martin and Rev. Harry Collins III. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia is assisting the family. Surviving is his beloved wife, Doris Walker of West Columbia; daughter, Doris Ellis and fiancé, Ron Jordan of Lexington, SC; sons, David Walker (Karen) of Chesapeake, VA, and Kenneth Walker (Debbie) of Evans, GA; sisters, Naomi Hagan (Floyd), and Pat Arceneaux (Paul) both of Raleigh, NC, and Dian Cease (Carroll) of Hanahan, SC; brother, Richard Walker (Pearl) of Augusta, GA; seven wonderful grandchildren; and three adored great grandchildren. The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Madden and his team, also special thanks to the staff at Lexington Medical Center 8th Oncology floor for their wonderful and dedicated care.
