Charles E. Brokhoff, 87, of Pottsville passed away Sunday, January 1, 2012 at ManorCare Health Services, Pottsville.
Born in Pottsville on November 26, 1924, he was a son of the late Henry J. and Elizabeth (Miller) Brokhoff.
He was a graduate Pottsville High School, class of 1942.
He was a Tech Sergeant in the U.S. Army Airforce during World War II, having served in the European Theatre of Operations with the 429th Bombardment Squadron.
He was the owner of the former Brokhoff Coal Hauling trucking business for 45 years.
He was an active member of the Trinity Episcopal Church, Pottsville; the V.F.W. and lifetime member of the AmVets, both of Pottsville; a member of the Mechanicsville Fire Co. and a lifetime member of the Mechanicsville Fish and Game.
Charles was an avid fisherman, fly tier and hunter enjoying the outdoors.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Jean M. (Harron) Brokhoff, in 2007, a son, Lamar F. in 1969, sisters, Annette Rehman, Ruth Brokhoff, Eleanor Dieffenbach and Margaret I. Fleeger; and brothers, Harry R. and George F. Brokhoff.
Charles is survived by his daughter, Deborah L. Evans and husband, Jerry, Mohnton; a son, William C. Brokhoff and wife, Barbi, Hanford, CA; grandchildren, Andrea L. (Evans) Law, Mohnton, Clinton C. Brokhoff and Ashley N. Brokhoff, Hanford, CA; several nieces and nephews.
Religious Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning at the Robert A. Evans, Jr. Funeral Home, 208 Pike St., Port Carbon, with Rev. Jim Reinhart officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing from 9 – 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Sch. Haven.
