He was born on Sept. 14, 1944, in Cloquet, to Clifton and Margaret (Morrissette) Rabideaux.
Rafferty married Janice Kauppila on Dec. 23, 1971. He worked as a welder for Hydro-Mac, Arctic Cat, and Fond du Lac. He retired from Black Bear Casino in 2006. Rafferty was a member of the Fond du Lac Band of the Lake Superior Chippewa and the Thief River Falls Eagle Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and several nieces and nephews.
Rafferty is survived by his wife, Janice; siblings Clifton (Gail), David, Dennis (Mary) and Shirley; brothers-in-law Gene, Bob, Greg and Gordy (Glenna) Kauppila; sisters-in-law Sharon (Jim) Baron and Gloria (Kevin) Malwitz; aunt Cynthia Olson; uncle Robert Morrissette; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
VISITATION: 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, in Handevidt Funeral Home, 900 Washington Ave., Cloquet. Interment at New Holy Family Cemetery in Cloquet.
