JONESPORT - Reginald "Reggie" A. Alley, 86, died at Togus Veterans Hospital in Augusta after a long illness. Reggie was born the son of the late Alonzo and Julie (Merchant) Alley. Reggie married Vannie Manchester October 15, 1944 in Jonesport, Maine. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II on a crash boat in the Phillipines. After being discharged in 1946, Reggie returned to Jonesport where he ran sardine carriers and then fished on his lobster boat the "Cindy Jen" until he was 79 years. Reggie was a member of the Washington Chapter #16 of the Royal Arch Masons and the Jonesport Masonic Lodge #188. He was also a member of the VFW, DAV, American Legion and the Knights of Pythias. Reggie is survived by his wife Vannie of 63 years; a sister, Frances Pratt; a son, Arthur Alley and wife, Mary; two granddaughters, Cynthia Hawes and husband Thomas and Jennifer Alley and husband, Erie Jacobson; and a great-grandson, Derek Hawes and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends as well as two feline friends, Molly and Muffie. He was predeceased by a brother, Alston Alley.
A funeral service will be held, officiated by Elder Charles Lakeman. Burial will be private.
