She was born on September 25, 1924 in Graham, Texas to parents Edna Reath and William L. Askew. After high school, she attended North Texas State University as an art major. Dorothy began her career as a weather reporter, an airline stewardess for American Airlines, and finally found a long time career as an educator. She spent 25 years teaching Second Grade in the Spring Branch ISD in Houston.
While a stewardess at only 22, Dorothy met a handsome Bombadier, Edward “Eddie” M. Riddle on a blind date. He later became her husband of more than 60 years. After retiring from Public school, Dorothy discovered her passion for China Painting. She became involved with Houston China Painters Association and became an instructor. Later Dorothy and Ed moved to Sun City in Georgetown, Texas where Dorothy continued her china painting classes.
Dorothy and Ed were faithful members of Bellaire Presbyterian Church in Houston and First Presbyterian Church in Georgetown. She taught Bible Study and was active in her church Circle.
She is survived by her children Christie Fisher and Wesley Riddle, her grandchildren Kathleen Hackney, Kevin Fisher, Lori Fisher, Rebecca Riddle and Stephen Riddle, and great grandchildren, C. J., William, Nadia, Riley and Peyton.
Dorothy charmed everyone she met and will be missed by many friends and family members.
