The ship Teutonia was in service from 1856 to 1882, after which it became known as the Regina. The ship was operated by the Hamburg-American Line from 1859-1867, after which it was sold in 1877 to the Dominion Line.
Christian was married, probably in Berrien County, Michigan, in about 1891 to Dorathea (Doris) Segnitz. This union resulted in ten known children, but only two lived to be adults.
