1st LT. John Fox, posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor in 1997 for actions during World War II. One enlistment Ohio 372nd Infantry. Honorable discharge, March 22, 1940. R.O.T.C. graduate and commissioned, Wilberforce University, June 13, 1940. February 28, 1941, Fort Devens, Mass.; August 15, 1941, Fort Benning, Georgia, the Infantry School. Graduate of Rifle and Heavy Weapons Course. Awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (posthumously) for calling down artillery fire on his own position to stop an enemy advance.
