Obit: Ruth Marlene Aspden
Ruth Marlene Aspden, 65, of Newport, died at 6:46 AM, Friday, May 26 in the Oakwood Southshore Medical Center, Trenton, where she had been since Monday. She had been in poor health for 3 weeks.
She was born October 25, 1940 in Commodore, PA to John and Ruth (Hall) Kapcoe. She married James A. Aspden, December 23, 1962 in Detroit, they moved to the Monroe area in 1977 from Lincoln Park. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cleaning, cooking, and taking care of her family.
Survivors include her husband, a son, John A. of Newport, 2 brothers, John (Joyce) Kapcoe of Dearborn Heights and Paul (Maria) Kapcoe of Newport, a sister, Darlene (Tom) Maczkowski of Everett, MI, 5 grandchildren, and a great granddaughter. Sadly, her son, James R. preceded her in death, May 13, 2003.
Friends may call at the Bacarella Funeral Home, 5-8 PM Tuesday and 1-8 PM Wednesday. A rosary service will be held at 4 PM Wednesday. She will lie in state at St. Charles Catholic Church, Thursday at 9 AM until a mass at 10 AM. Fr. Fred Misiolek, pastor of the church, will officiate. Interment will take place at Michigan Memorial Park.
