I chose a rose because my Grandfather and your first cousin Frank A. Boelke born July 16,1883 loved his rose garden in Bayside, Queens New York. I am very proud to be related to you and all you did for aviation. May you rest in peace. Francis J. Boelke U.S.A. (Please note that the "C" in Boelcke was dropped mistakenly when my Grandfather went through Ellis Island from Germany.) My Father's name was Francis A. Boelke.

No question you were one of history's greatest fighter pilots and left a tactical fighting legacy to be proud of. Rest in peace.

An enemy of us allies, but a gallant and most vicious foe. For doing nothing more than your job in the service of Kaiser Wilhelm II, I envy you.

The Bio has a bit of an error. The world's first flying ace certainly belongs to one Roland Garros(1882-1918). A famed French pre-war flyer. Captain Boelcke was the world's first aerial tactician that is to train squadrons(groups) to be decisive in air combat. Both the allies & the axis adopted his teachings in WW1 & WW2. Two of Boelcke's excellent students were Max Immelmann & Manfred von Richthofen. RIP Oswald.

Oswald... when I read the testimonies of your mates from your time... they are all extremely positive... "a chivalrous leader, equally polite to everyone" ... I pray for you, that you may rest in peace... you will never be forgotten!

A fighter and a teacher, he provided every resource he could to serve his country. He lives forever in the history of aviation, and one will note that he was felled in a tragic accident, certainly not by enemy fire.
