Clara Virginia Gilkey, age 75 of Urbana formerly of Athens passed away Friday June 30, 2006 at Mercy Memorial Hospital, Springfield. Born July 9, 1930 on the Lower Plains, she was the daughter of the late Elza E. and Thelma Bean Coon.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Pearl Gilkey; a daughter and son in law, Tamala & Bernard Tom of Urbana; a son and daughter in law, Charles & Debbie Gilkey of Parkersburg, WV; a granddaughter, Amber Gilkey of Urbana; two grandsons & wives- Kevin & Lisa Gilkey of Little Hocking and Keith & Tara Gilkey of Charleston, WV; a sister in law, Karen (Harve) Jones of Athens; a brother in law, Gerald (Georgia) Gilkey of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Besides her parents she is preceded in death by a sister in law, Gladys Baker and three brothers in law- Allen, Merritt and David Gilkey. Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday 1:00PM at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home by Pastor David Cogar with burial in Athens Memory Gardens. Friends may call 12:00 Noon until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.
