Sheridan A. Giles, 100, a resident of Westbury United Methodist Community, formerly of 689 Alden St., Meadville, died Wednesday, May 10, 1995, at Meadville Medical Center. He was born Feb. 16, 1895, in Turkey Foot, W.Va., a son of Daniel and Sophia Bowser Giles. He married Rose Jane Tarr March 31, 1915. She preceded him in death Dec. 19, 1993. He was raised in Adrian where he lived and farmed until he was 35 years old. He then moved to Linesville, where he was self-employed as a dairy farmer, farming there for 30 years before he retired in 1970. He enjoyed gardening and raising flowers. Survivors include four sons, Russell S. Giles of Conneautville, A. Grant Giles of Saegertown, Robert D. Giles of Meadville and Herbert Giles of Linesville; two daughters, Mrs. Walter (LuAnna) Hart and Mrs. James (Sara) Corey, both of Linesville; 21 grandchildren; and 51 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, LaRue M. Giles; five brothers; and a sister. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Byham-Miller-Mizner Funeral Home, 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, with Dr. William A. Smith of St. Mark's United Church of Christ officiating. Calling hours are today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Calvary Baptist Church, Center Road, Linesville, or to Westbury United Methodist Community, Park Avenue, Meadville.
