IS SHOT TO DEATH DURING A STRUGGLE

Clarence DeBruler left on Thursday for Bayard, being called there by the sudden death of his oldest brother, Fred DeBruler, 52, who served the Village as its marshal. The latter was found, shot to death, Wednesday night. His body was discovered on a loading dock to the rear of a Bayard theater with a bullet through the heart.

With a communication. . . it is learned that the coroner's jury found that Fred DeBruler had come to his death at the hands of parties unknown. It was found that the marshal had engaged in a struggle with some individual, that one or more shots had been fired at close range and one bullet penetrated Fred DeBruler's chest, entering his heart.

Fred A. DeBrula was the son of Daniel C. DeBruler of Clay County, Indiana where he was probably born. Fred and Maude A. Perkins DeBrula were the parents of Forest, George, Earl, Robert and Lillian. They were farming in Scott Township of Sherman County before moving to the Bayard area. Fred had a brother, Clarence, of Kearney and George of Litchfield, Nebraska.
