He was deployed with the UK contingent of NATO forces in Afghanistan.
LCpl Eustace was killed by an improvised explosive device while on a joint patrol with the Afghan National Army in the Mirmandab region of Nahr-e Saraj, Helmand province.
Aged 25, he was raised in Liverpool. He worked as a painter and decorator before joining the army in late 2004. LCpl Eustace served previous operational tours in Iraq in 2006 and Afghanistan in 2009. He deployed again to Afghanistan in October 2011 as a mortar fire controller based at FOB Khar Nikah. He was respected as a diligent, highly professional and completely reliable Rifleman. Known as "Eust" to his friends, he was described as a lively character with a wicked sense of humour and constant smile. He was also a supporter of Chelsea FC.
LCpl Eustace leaves behind his mother Carol, sister Kirsty, brother Ryan, girlfriend Aimi, other relatives and many friends. His family said, "Peter was very fit and he always wanted to join the Army, he was committed to carrying out a full career there. He will be missed by his family and friends and is loved by all. Peter was a loving son and grandson and will be especially missed by his girlfriend, Aimi. He will also be missed by loving dog Macey."
Funeral with full military honours was held on December 12, 2011 at the Anglican Cathedral, Liverpool.
