Mary Cheley was born Mary Erickson on February 28, 1917, to Martin and Anna (Bjerkeset) Erickson in Huron. She grew up and attended school in Huron.
She was married to Raymond Anderson in 1939 and they later divorced. Later Mary married Wayne Cheley. Wayne died in 1950 from a polio epidemic. She was employed with Armours and Company for 37 years, retiring in 1976 on a medical disability.
Mary lived for her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Grateful for having shared her life are her 2 daughters, Sharon (Weyland) Hvam of Fedora, SD, and Judy Busch of Sioux Falls; 7 grandchildren, Scott (Kelly) Busch of Smithville, MO, Greg Busch of Sioux Falls, Mark (Nancy) Hvam of Canova, Todd Hvam and friend Liz Hoffman of Artesian, Michael Hvam of Fedora, Michelle (Gary) Jorgenson of Sioux Falls, and Stephanie Lawrence and friend Bill Myers of Huron; 9 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Alma (George) Zwanziger of Huron, and Esther Bothwell of San Clemente, CA; 1 brother, Arthur (Gladys) Erickson of Huron; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Wayne; 2 brothers, Andrew and Ed Erickson; and 1 sister, Gladys Rudolph.
