Sartell, Minnesota September 28, 1912 ~ October 10, 2006. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2006 at Country Manor Health Care Chapel, Sartell, for Mary Anne Ferraro, 94, who died Tuesday at Country Manor Health Care Center, Sartell. Rev. Alfred Stangl will officiate. Interment will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday in Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis. Visitation will be after 12:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon at the Country Manor Health Care Chapel. Mary was born to the late Hubert and Mary (Ley) Gans in St. Cloud. She was a graduate from St. Cloud Technical High School and went on to earn her Bachelor Degree from North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND. She continued her education at Columbia University in New York City, earning her Master Degree in teaching graduating in 1945. On November 22, 1945, she married John S. Ferraro at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in New York City, he preceded her in death on June 8, 1983. Mary taught at the Barnard School for Boys at Columbia University in New York City for 13 years. They moved to Minneapolis in 1954, where Mary taught in the Minneapolis Public School System for 23 years, retiring in 1974. Since 1989, she made her home in the St. Cloud/Sartell area. Mary was an active member of the Minnesota Federation of Teachers; a member of the Minneapolis Teachers Association; North Dakota State University Alumni Association; and St. Mary’s Cathedral in St. Cloud. She was a former member of the Visitation Catholic Church in Minneapolis.
Mary is survived by a sister, Betsy Gans Nentl of Sartell. In addition to her late husband, Mary was preceded in death by brothers and sisters: Dr. Roma Gans, Blanche Frick, Alfred, Leander, Robert, Dr. Leo, Regina Weber and Eva; many nieces and nephews.
