Janice Adams, 58, of Egg Harbor Township and Melbourne, Florida passed away on Friday after battling a long illness.

She was born to Linton and June Smith in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and grew up in Brigantine, New Jersey.

After graduating from Holy Spirit High School, she married John "David" Jones Jr. and together they had three children.

After being widowed, Janice married Norman Adams, who had three children, and the couple bore two more children. In addition to being a mother of eight, Janice was a mom to any child or young adult in the neighborhood that needed one. She was devoted to her children and loved spending time with her grandchildren. After raising their family in Egg Harbor Township, Janice and Norman moved to Melbourne, Florida; she became a widow again last year.

Janice was survived by parents June Smith and Albert Peterson; brother, Robert Smith; sons, Christian Adams, John Jones III, Richard Adams, Jeffery Jones, Michael Adams, and Jeremy Adams; daughters, Patricia Adams and Stacy (Jones) Fraley; 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends may gather at Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main Street, Mays Landing, where reflections of her life will be held. Interment will immediately follow at the Atlantic County Veteran's Cemetery in Estell Manor.
