Peacetime Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Captain of the Afterguard in the United States Navy. His citation reads "For heroic efforts to save from drowning Wellington Brocar, landsman, of the Tallapoosa, of New Orleans, 15 July 1866." After immigrating to New York from Norway, he joined the Navy, serving three years. According to his death certificate, his parents were his father Christian Johanson, a native of Norway and to his mother, Ingabold Oleson also born in Norway. On May 17, 1881 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, he married with Louise Herlin of Sweden. The couple had three daughter: Pearl was born March 4, 1882 followed by Ruby Louise on March 28, 1885 and finally, Rachael born May 4, 1889. Twelve weeks after her birth Rachael died of cholera on July 27, 1889. He was employed as a painter. Around 1895 Mr. Robinson entered the Soldiers' Home in Minneapolis, where he stayed for twenty years.
