"Dick" was a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend. He had a quick wit and entertained anyone who was within ear shot. He went to college and earned his J.D., but he found truck driving to be more lucrative. His three marriages failed and there were no children begotten by choice, referring to them as "rug-rats". He worked as an inner-city truck driver in Chicago, IL for 25 years before retiring to rehabbing old brownstone houses in Chicago and selling them for double his investment. He invested his life's earnings in a trucking business with his brother, Harlow James.

His life was cut short when he lost control of his vehicle, crashing into the Cattaraugus county barns and losing his life like his father. In his will, he bequeathed his assets to his brother's (Harlow) three children. They, in turn, gave it to their father since they believed he had the business acumen to make it successful. Unfortunately, it failed within 5 years like many others. Dick was a good man with a tender heart, even for "rug-rats".
