Emmett P. Glass, age 85, a resident of Clifton Forge died Saturday morning in the Alleghany Regional Hospital after a short illness. He was born in Clifton Forge on December 7, 1906, the youngest of eight (8) sons born to the late John J. and Alice Johnson Glass.

He was a retired postmaster, having served forty-four years with the U. S. Postal Service. He was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples, Clifton Forge, having been a member since 1919.

Survivors include two (2) nieces, Mrs. Alice Glass Backus, Newport News, and Mrs. Mildred Glass Cornwell, Manassas; a great-niece Brenda E. Champ, Newport News; and great-nephews W. Glenn Campbell, Newport News; Larry L. Campbell, Poquoson, and R. Gregory Campbell, Williamsburg.

He was preceded in death by seven (7) brothers.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, 1992, in Crown Hill Cemetery, Clifton Forge, with the Rev. Don Morris officiating. Request that memorial contributions be made to the Clifton Forge Rescue Squad or the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, both of Clifton Forge, Virginia 24422. Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, is in charge of the arrangements.
