ELLIOTT MAN HEART VICTIM

Donald Pierson dies on tractor Wednesday evening

Donald Pierson of Elliott, a longtime resident of that community, died of a heart attack last Wednesday evening, June 22, at the farm home of his son, Dwight Pierson, northwest of Elliott.

Mr. Pierson was assisting with haying and driving a tractor at the time, with his son, Dwight, riding on the drawbar of the tractor. Without warning Mr. Pierson was seized with the attack and died while at the wheel of the machine.

Donald D. Pierson was born at Ashland, Nebraska, on July 10, 1900, and at his passing had reached the age of 54 years, 11 months and 12 days. Mr. Pierson was united in marriage to Myrle Clark in 1919 at Elliott and they farmed northwest of that city until a few years ago when they retired and moved into Elliott.

Mr. Pierson was a member of the Church of Christ and the B.P.O.E. Lodge.

Left to mourn his passing are his widow and three children. The children are Dwight Pierson and Mrs. Dale DeWitt of Elliott and Mrs. Max Petty of the Stanton locality. Also surviving are his father, James Pierson of St. John, Washington; a brother, Fred Pierson of Crescent City, California; a sister, Mrs. Charles Kruse of Red Oak; ten grandchildren and numerous other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Church of Christ in Elliott. The pastor, Rev. Donald Forbes, officiated. The music was by Mrs. Joe Thompson and Mrs. Charles Welsch, accompanied by Mrs. Ellis Reed. The casket bearers were: Clifford Braden, Frank Braden, Harry Carson, Hilton Cowley, Leland Laird and John Shellberg. The floral committee was composed of Mrs. Roscoe Kipp, Mrs. Hilton Cowley and Mrs. Edna Welsch. Interment was made in Hillside Cemetery at Elliott.
