MYRTLE RHODES was a seamstress in Kansas City, Missouri according to the 1900 Census.
According to family history records...Grace Liggett and Bertha Roberts received the sad telegraph message this morning of the death of their sister, Myrtle Rhodes Latta, wife of Reid L. Latta, 3819 Bales Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri.
Mr. Latta and Mrs. Latta's mother, Mrs. Sarepta Rhodes, who has been spending the winter in Kansas City with Reid and Myrtle, were greatly shocked this morning when Mrs. Latta was found dead in bed. Last night she had been in her usual jolly spirits, and had never complained in any way.
Myrtle was a lady of beauty and gracious personality, with many friends here in Fort Scott where she often visited.
Myrtle was born in Colony, Kansas nd is about 48 years old. She was a member of the Methodist church and of the Eastern Star, having filled two offices. Before moving to Kansas City about eight years ago, the Latta's lived for a number of years in Councl Bluffs, Iowa.
She's buried in Evergreen Cemetery next to her mother, Sarepta Rhodes and her husband, Reid Latta who died on November 10, 1932.
Myrtle Rhodes Latta was one of eleven children of Sarepta Johnson Rhodes and Beachum Rhodes a Civil War Veteran buried in Fort Scott National Cemetery #1.
