Note: He had taken ill with pains about the heart the night following his wife' death and died within six hours, of a heart attack brought on by the shock of his wife's death.

They had been married for fifty-one years, living on a farm on the Barnes Mill Road in Madison Co, Kentucky. A number of Willises, relatives of John, were buried on this farm. The home was later occupied by John and Tabitha Duerson
