Alvarez Maximo T. Max Alvarez, 83, a longtime Silver City resident, entered life eternal Tuesday morning at his residence. He was born Sept. 28, 1910, in Las Palomas, N.M., to the late Maximo and Raquel (Tafoya) Alvarez. Mr. Alvarez was a retired ASARCO miner and member of the American Heart and Lung Associations, The New Mexico Boys Ranch and the Fraternal Order of Police. He was a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church. Visitation will be Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. with the prayer vigil beginning at 7 at Baca's Funeral Chapel with Deacon Johnnie Perez reciting the rosary. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated Friday morning at 10 at St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Rod Nichols officiating. Interment will be Friday afternoon at 2 at Chloride Cemetery in Chloride, N.M. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Audelita Alvarez of the home; two sons and their wives, Max and Esther Alvarez of San Lorenzo, and Eloy and Susan Alvarez of Silver City; four daughters and their husbands, Gladys and Harold Kemper of Princeton, Calif., Lasarita Jaramillo of Springerville, Ariz., Marion and Tino Valles of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and Elma and Andy Lopez of the home; two brothers, Fermin Villanueva and Ruben Villanueva, both of Albuquerque; four sisters, Sofie Arviso of Gallup, and Delia Maldonado, Rose Maez and Margret Martinez, all of Albuquerque; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ida Tafoya. Active cakset bearers will be David, Sam and Leroy Jaramillo, Daniel and Steven Alvarez, and Johnny Valles. Honorary bearers will be Grace Marquez, Linda Wright, Tina Valles, Gina Castillo, Lisa Zlonke and Chris Wright. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the American Heart Association, 7320 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas 75231. Entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels.
