Ruth Rose Cole was born on 22 November 1891 in Illinois to Almon Thomas and Nellie (Sollars) Cole. She contracted TB during the epidemic in St. Paul, Minnesota. Her parents took her by train to Barber, Montana where a relative lived. She was removed from the train by stretcher and died on 2 March 1915 at the age of 23. Her death certificate notes her burial in the Ryegate cemetery.
