Elizabeth Hall Heflin, 86, of King George passed away, Thursday, September 29, 2011 at her residence. Mrs. Heflin was a legal secretary prior to the birth of her children. She and her husband were the original owners of Old Mud Tavern in Thornburg. She also owned and operated Ki Bet's Gift Shop with her sister, Kitty Curtis. She was the administrative assistant in her husband's financial planning office, and she was a former member of Spotsylvania County Republican party and the Dominion Republic Women's Club. Mrs. Heflin portrayed Mary Washington at various historic sites over the past ten years as a member of the George Washington Young Friends. Survivors include her daughter, Susan Heflin Bailey and her husband, Bob; her son-in-law, Ricardo Solis; one grandchild, Lauren B. Lewis; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Kitty Curtis and Jean Thompson; and one brother, John T. Hall. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Lynwood Hall and Clara Belle Apperson Hall; her husband, Robert Mason Heflin and a daughter, Cynthia Heflin Solis. Service will be private. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm Monday, October 3 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A reception will be held at the Bailey Home at 3pm Tuesday, October 4.
