Aurilla was the daughter of Sidney/Bradey Bliss (B-MA) and his wife Anna Wood, (B-CT) born in Franklin Co., VT, on Feb. 29, 1820.

Aurilla married Michael Croninger on October 14, 1839, a son of Joseph and Barbara Croninger and a veteran pioneer of Kent Co., MI. His grandfather, Joseph Croninger Sr., was one of General George Washington's body guards through the Revolutionary War.

5 CRONINGER children (1 died early):
Elizabeth A. (Mrs. W.H. Potts)
Ida M. (Mrs. H. Gruss),
Della I. (Mrs. Geo. Phalings)
Sydney B.
__________
In 1836 Michael came to Detroit, MI from OH, and manufactured 900 barrels of cider. He made a second trip to MI in 1846 and entered 160 acres on Sec. 33, Cascade Twp., Kent, MI, and the following year (1837) brought his family to the new farm. It was in its original state, claimed as tree territory by Indians and wild animals.

Mr. Croninger was an expert with the rifle and became a champion deer-hunter. One exploit was the killing of two deer by one shot; thus he was able to feed his family during lean times.

In 1866, the family moved to Calednoia, Kent, MI, where he purchased 80 acres on Sec. 22.
