Mr. Hardin S. Joyce, 88, a resident of Circle Drive, died Sunday morning, September 18, 2011 in the Thomasville Medical Center. He was born February 25, 1923 in Stokes County, a son of Joseph Hardin Joyce and Hettie Shafer Joyce. He was a retired adjustor with Nationwide Insurance Company. Mr. Joyce was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during World War II and was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church and the R. L. Pope Bible Class. On September 30, 1966 he was married to Priscilla Moore Brinkley, who survives of the home. Also surviving are a daughter, Pam Brinkley and her husband Carl Forsyth, II of Durham, N.C.; a son, John Brinkley, III and his friend Priscilla Marlowe of Thomasville; two sisters, Mary Hodge and Bessie Patterson of Raeford, N.C.; a brother, Paul Joyce of Mayodan, N.C.; and two grandsons, Jason Forsyth of Blacksburg, Va. and Michael Forsyth of Durham, N.C. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at 2 P.M. in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Peggy Finch officiating. No formal visitation will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family request any memorials be directed to Memorial United Methodist Church or to the R.L. Pope Bible Class of the church, P.O. Box 428, Thomasville, N.C. 27361 or to the charity of the donor's choice. J.C.
