The former Dorothy M. Siemplinski was born on April 8, 1924 in Chicago, IL. the daughter of the late Benedict and Justyna Domanski Siemplinski. On April 30, 1949 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Chicago, she was united in marriage to Walter A. Banas. Dorothy then moved to Powers Lake.
She formerly worked for Bell Telephone and then after moving to Wisconsin, she worked as a waitress for Honey Bear Farms and the Village Inn in Twin Lakes. Dorothy was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Twin Lakes and the Women's Club at the Church. She was instrumental in forming the hot lunch program at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church School in New Munster. She enjoyed playing cards especially Poker. She enjoyed cooking, canning and especially her family.
Dorothy is survived by: 2 daughters-Linda (Dr. Edwin) Patrick of Elgin, IL and Christine (Robert) Ketterhagen of Bassett, WI; 3 sons-Steven (Diane) Banas of Cedarburg, WI, David (Janet) Banas of Valparaiso, IN and Daniel (Joan) Banas of Lemont, IL; 11 grandchildren-Timothy (Sarah) Patrick, Brian (Stacey) Patrick, Kristin (Mark) Bordeaux, Andrew (Heather) Banas, Jacob Banas, Katherine and Adam Ketterhagen, JenniferLas, Matthew Banas and Emily and Danny Banas; 5 gr. Grandchildren-Hayden, Maddy, Charlie, Benjamin and Payton. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers-Ray, Stan and Eugene Siemplinski and 2 sisters-Armella Siemplinski and Josephine Mileski.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30AM Tuesday Sept. 27, 2011 at St. John's Catholic Church in Twin Lakes. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery. The Banas Family will receive friends from 4 to 8PM Monday at the Haase-Derrick-Lockwood Funeral Home in Twin Lakes. Memorial remembrances may be made to the Twin Lakes Rescue Squad 236 E. Main St. Twin Lakes, WI 53181.
