Missouri Almeda Caroline Inman was the daughter of Eliza Ann (Rustin) and Alva Inman. She married John Christian Johnson, son of James Henry and Mary Ann (Wagoner) Johnson, on February 8, 1887 in Texas County, Missouri. She usually went by "Almeda," but her husband called her 'Caroline.'

They were the parents of: Myrtle E. (m. Charlie Anderson), Bertha (m. Richard Williams), Mattie Beatrice (m. Hardy Ireland), Elva (m. John Williams), James Alva (m. Bernice Edgmond), Velma Mae (m. Howard Harris), Beulah Ann (m. (1) Earl Steelman (2) Floyd Lee Naney), Edgar Lee (m. Goldie Steelman), Joseph Gurnsey (died at age 13) and Marshall H. (m. (1) Alberta Cohenour (2) Florence Kaiser).
