JENNIFER KAY BROWN Smith Shepherd 1950-2011
Jennifer Kay Brown was born to Roy Theodore Brown, Jr. "Pete" and his wife, Phyllis Elaine WIDDIFIELD 1926-2000. She was named after the movie actress Jennifer Jones. Jennie/Jenny Kay was one of 4 children born to Pete and Phyllis Brown:
1 SON:
1 - Roy Theodore Brown, III
and
3 DAUGHTERS:
1 - Carole Anne Brown
2 - Jennifer Kay Brown
3 - Kathy Sue Brown
On the 22nd of June, 1968 Jennifer Kay BROWN married Paul Howard Smith which ended in divorce. They had one child:
1 DAUGHTER:
1 - Wendy Sue Smith
On the 17th of October, 1975 Jennie Kay Brown married Steve Shepherd, unfortunately, their marriage ended in divorce in 2004. They were the parents of 2 children:
1 SON:
1 - Jason Shepherd
and
1 DAUGHTER:
1 - Mindy Nicole Shepherd
As a toddler, Jenny Kay was known for her "rocking chair" where she sat and sang her little heart out, then rocked herself to sleep by pulling out one of her hairs, carefully wrapping it around her index finger to tickle her nose while she sucked her thumb. A well remembered memory of her sister and brother.
Jen always loved music and could name that tune in less than 3 seconds on most all music of the 60's and 70's. She was a HUGE fan of the Beatles!!
Jenny Kay was an outstanding cook and well known by family and friends for her famous macaroni and cheese, numerous delicious desserts, and lasagna. She enjoyed collecting ruby glass and antiques.
Jenny Kay was employed by Dow Chemical for many years, retiring on disability. After her divorce in 2004, she met "Hutch" Eugene Adkins, while playing pool. They remained a couple until her death. Jen was 5'6" tall with brown hair and very dark brown eyes.
Jenny Kay loved her family and found all her joy in being with her children and grandchildren - especially camping.

Jennifer Kay (Brown) Shepherd, 61, of Indianapolis, IN passed away September 22, 2011 in Indianapolis. Jennifer was born in Indianapolis daughter of Roy T. "Pete" and Phyllis (Widdifield) Brown. Jennifer retired from Dow Agro Science where she was an Administrative Assistant. She was preceded in death by her mother.
Jennifer is survived by daughters, Wendy Smith of Indianapolis, IN and Mindy Shepherd of Amo, IN; a son, Jason Shepherd of Austin, TX; her dad, Roy "Pete" Brown of Indianapolis, IN; sisters, Carole Whittemore and Kathy Worth both of Indianapolis, IN; a brother Ted Brown of Greenwood, IN; grandchildren, Jessica Smith of Indianapolis, Haylee Shepherd and Malachi Conner both of Amo, IN.
Funeral services 11 AM, Thursday, September 29, 2011 at Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Center at Memorial Park, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday at the funeral center.
