Nellie Pauline Day, 82, of North Vernon, died at 6:25 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005 at Silver Oaks Health Campus in Columbus.

Mrs. Day was retired as a factory worker at the former Regal Rugs and had also worked at Danner's Dime Store in North Vernon. She served as a Cub Scout den mother for several years and loved music, wrote poetry and was an avid clown collector.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Vance–Fisher–Sawyer Funeral Chapel in North Vernon, with the Rev. Paul Haugen officiating. Calling will be from 10 a.m. to service time Tuesday. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana or Silver Oaks Health Campus.

Mrs. Day was born Nov. 2, 1923, at Madison, the daughter of Mason and Pearl Chandler Kidwell. She married Lester Arnold Day on Sept. 15, 1957.

Survivors include a son, Clarence Darrell Day of Columbus; daughters, Judith Day Yeager, Donna Day Heilman and Chris Day Callahan, all of North Vernon; eight grandchildren; and 17 great–grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Dec. 11, 1990; a sister, Adelia Barrar; and brothers, Clifford, George and Morris Kidwell.
