On 3 Apr 1901, Ira was blown away in a cyclone. According to daughter Ana Mae, this had a lot to do with his later death. Ira died from Supperative Cystitis. Occupation at time of death-Farmer.
According to daughter Ana Mae Mathews-Benson, who was with him when he died, Ira was buried next to his wife Cynthia in Ira Cemetery, Scurry Co.,TX. Although, no record or headstone seems to be found and death record shows burial in Centerview.
