Cora's son, Chris Connell, wrote this story of his mother in the Augusta Chronicle Online Guest Book for his mother:

She was the best Mother, Always there when I needed her.Born to Jake Oxford and Roberta Johnson on a small farm in Glascock County, Ga.

She was orphaned at the tender age of 5 years old along with 4 sisters and a brother. They were raised in the Georgia Baptist Childrens Home in Atlanta. She came to Augusta after leaving Atlanta when she was 18 yrs.She always was close to her siblings . She met my Father, James T. Connell at a little cafe in downtown. He would go there each day and she served him lunch. She married dad in 1939. My dad passed away in 1967 and she remained a widow the rest of her years. She always took great care of the family no matter what the need.

My brother and I were at her side when she left this world. As she took her last breath , I could not believe the peace that came over her face and the litle smile she had was surely from the joy she received as she walked through the pearley gates of heaven.
