Clint A. Baker Dies at Gibsland
Heart attach at home early Sunday morning proves fatal to prominent planter

Funeral services for Clint Baker, 44, who died at Gibsland early Sunday morning from a heart attack, was held at the Gibsland Baptist church at 3 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Hogan Hunter, pastor of the church, officiating, assisted by Rev. E.W. Day, Methodist minister. Interment was in the Mt. Lebanon cemetery.

Mr. Baker was a senior member of the Brown Hardware Company, a prominent planter, and a member of Lowe-McFarland post at Gibsland. He was also a member of the Angler's class of the Gibsland Baptist Sunday school.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Bess Brown Baker; one daughter, Patsy, a student at Gibsland High School; one brother, James Baker, Alexandria; and three sisters, Mrs. Richard Gantt, Hazelhurst, Miss., Mrs. J.P. Ranell, Baton Rouge, and Mrs. J.A. Sutton, Gibsland.

Active pallbearers were Foster Taylor, E.W. Merritt, A.F. Merritt, W.J. Reno, E.W. Nelson, and Fred Sutton. Honorary pallbearers were Malvern Jones, R.E. Woodard, T.C. Johnson, F.B. Fields, J.P. Nelson Sr., C.B. Johnson, and Dr. O.L. Kidd.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Conger Funeral home of Arcadia.
