US Congressman. He was elected to Congress on two different occasions. He was first elected as a Whig to represent Maryland's 7th Congressional District in the United States House of Representative, serving from 1841 to 1843. He was then elected to represent the 6th Congressional District, serving from 1853 to 1855.
