Floyd's parents were Henry Howard Mitchell (1853-1932)and Laura Kelly (1858-1897). Floyd attended the Pryor Institute in Jasper, TN and was trained as an electrician. He worked in a mine with his brother Roy, possibly in Morgan county, TN. He and Hattie were married in 1908. They had four children: Claudine Elizabeth, Floyd K. (who died as an infant), Pauline Alberta, and Henry Harold. The family lived for several years in Guild, Marion Co, TN where Floyd worked on the Hales Bar Dam and Power Plant. My mother remembers living next to the Tennessee River in government housing. There was no school in the area so in about 1917 they moved to Chattanooga so their children could attend school. In about 1919 they moved to Los Angeles, CA. Floyd worked for the Dept. of Water and Power as an Electrician. He and Hattie moved to Yucaipa after he retired (about 1948) and lived there many years. Floyd loved to work in his garage where he had a wealth of wood and metal working tools. One time he made a little brass ring for me from a pipe. He also enjoyed gardening and would send us home with a bag full of fresh vegetables including okra and rhubarb.

Floyd and Hattie resided in a nursing home in Claremont, CA until they died. They were both cremated, their ashes buried in the Babyland section of the Pomona Cemetery.

Henry Harold's ashes are buried in Etowah, McMinn, TN.
