Valette U. "Jack" Barr, 74 of Pana, Illinois, postmaster at Beecher City, Illinois for over twenty years, and a teacher in the local school. He had taught school in Tower Hill, Dieterich, and Findlay. He died January, 1972 at 8:55 p.m. at St.Mary's hospital, Decatur, Illinois. He was born in Beecher City, Illinois on September 30, 1897. He was the son of Asa and Essie Tipsword Barr. He married Constance M. Swinnen.

Surviving are his wife, Constance; daughter, Wilhelmina Burrous, Mr. Zion, Illinois; two grandsons, Phillip and Douglas; brothers, James, Porterville, California; Edwin, Beecher City, Illinois; William Hazelwood, Missouri; sisters, Lillian Smith, Mount Pulaski, Illinois; Lucille Reeder and Wilma Wonus, both of Beecher City, Illinois; and Irene Harlan, Perkin, Illinois.

Mr. Barr was a member of St. Patrick Church, Pana, Illinois and Knights of Columbus.

Funeral services were held at ST. Patrick Church, Pana, Illinois with Rev. B.H. LaBonte officiating.
