Larry served in the U.S. Army in Korea during the Pueblo incident. He was very proud to have served his country, and grateful to all others who also serve.
Larry worked for Banner-Western 42 years. He was liked, and respected by both customers and co-workers. He was a good father. Involved in Scouting, bowling, & 4-H. He enjoyed the rare chance to see his children's games.
Beloved by his grandchildren who call him Papa Larry and Gayle spent 45 years together learning, laughing and loving. He comes from a huge family and is loved, and respected by all of them.
Survived by his loving wife Gayle (Carroll) Graves: son Larry W. (Laura) Graves Jr. daughters Dodie (Brian) Wondolowski and Michelle (Adam) Klenotich; grandchildren Korryn, Sean and Gavin Graves.
Also survived by seven sisters Judith (Joe deceased) Curry, Gloria (Jerry) Spencer, Bonnie (Ernest) Wilm, Tammie (Walter) Mistakevich, Sherry Bippus, Beverly (William) Mistakevich and Roseanne (Darrell) Powell; four brothers Robert (Cynthia) Graves, Richard (Tammy) Graves, Charles (Deborah) Graves, Terry Graves and dozens of nieces and nephews and sister-in-law Joyce (Patrick) Hartney.
Preceded in death by his parents Oliver M. and Caroline L. (Drout) Graves; three sisters Shirley Norwood, Ruth (Linsay) Conley, Carol (Jim) Smith and Linda Graves; one brother Carl Graves.
Larry was kind, honest, hardworking man who always made you laugh, so when you remember him, please do it with a chuckle, and a thought of his great smile.

Funeral Services for Larry Graves will be held Thursday August 11, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday 2-8 p.m. Donations to Joliet Area Community Hospice or to his grandchildren's college funds, Numark Credit Union, Joliet, Illinois would be appreciated.
