Leland Harshman Dies In Randolph County Hospital

Leland Lester Harshman,316 1/2 West Pearl Street, Union City,died late Tuesday night at the Randolph County hospital in Winchester after a few days of serious illness. He had been in failing health for the past two years.

Born in Greenfork township Feb. 28,1892,he was a son of Charles and Melinda (Clear)Harshman and was a educated in the Greenfork township schools. For many years he was a stock buyer in the Spartanburg community,coming to Union City in 1949,where he was a valued employee of the Central Garage.

Survivors include his wife,the former Grace Sasser whom he married on Apr. 12,1919 in Greenville,Darke Co.,OH;three daughters,Mrs. Harold Mullen,Mrs. Morris Baker,Mrs. Evelyn Davis,all of Union City,and four sons,Charles of Pocatello,Idaho,Donald of Los Vegas,Nev.,Robert and Gerald,both of Union City. Twelve grandchildren,two brothers,Otto and Glen of Spartanburg and two sisters,Mrs. Ida Alexander of Spartanburg and Mrs. Florence Wiles of Hollansburg,OH,also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Fraze and Timmons Funeral home in Union City at 2 p.m. Friday,with Rev. David Dean in charge. Burial will be in the Spartanburg cemetery.
