73, of 1442 Plumcrest Dr. died April 29, 1990, at home. Funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hankins, Whittington and Williams-Dearborn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Visitation is 7 to 8:30 tonight.
Mr. Gillis, a Charlotte native, retired from Duke Power as Lakewood area superintendent after 48 years. He was a member of Chadwick United Methodist Church, where he was former member of the administrative board and former superintendent of Sunday school. He was a member of Westgate Masonic Lodge No. 738 AF&AM and Charlotte Engineers Club.
Survivors are his wife, Clara; son, Tommy Gillis; daughters, Mrs. Ann Wilkinson, Miss Sue Gillis; brother, Farris Gillis; sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Winchester of Apollo Beach, Fla., Mrs. Sallie Grice of Cary; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Chadwick United Methodist Church, 132 S. Cromer St., Charlotte, N.C. 28208; or to Hospice at Charlotte, 1331 The Plaza, Charlotte, N.C. 28205.
