Hezekiah joined the Confederate Army at age 14 and fought as an Arkansas Infantryman.He was fifteen when he returned home from the war. He was a Methodist preacher(his first flock appears to have been a congregation at Concord Church in about 1875).He also sold and repaired sewing machines, ran a grist mill and raised a large family. His daughters married into the Staley, Rushing, Sanders and Clark families to name only a few.
